BUHLMANN Debriefing- EuroMedLab 2019

BÜHLMANN Educational Workshop at EuroMedLab 2019

The BÜHLMANN Educational Workshop at EuroMedLab 2019, focused on optimizing workflow for fecal calprotectin testing was a great success.  This workshop offered insightful presentations from three laboratories discussing the process of stool sample pre-analytics and how they worked to find a solution to cope with continuously increasing test numbers. State-of-the-art technologies combined with modern sample management strategies were the key to measure up to the challenge.

Highlights from this Presentation

History of Calprotectin: Short historic summary of calprotectin from discovery to clinical use

Extraction Procedure: Overview of fecal extraction procedures

Progression of Testing: Fecal calprotectin from niche to full automation

Highlights from this Presentation

Challenge: Increasing workload and slow reaction time

Goal: Reduce Turnaround time (TAT), maintain analytical quality, improve daily workflow

Solution: Replacement of manual ELISA method, implementation of automated solution: BÜHLMANN fCAL® turbo

Highlights from this Presentation

Challenge: Increasing demand for calprotectin testing

Goal: Reduce TAT through automation using random access analyzer

Solution: Implementation of a convenient fecal extraction method utilizing CALEX® Cap on an automated analyzer simultaneously with other types of specimens and tests, streamlining the workflow, providing speed, efficiency, and extended measuring range

Highlights from this Presentation

Challenge: To overcome the obstacles experienced in the past with calprotectin tests – i.e. lack of track capabilities coupled with contamination issues, etc.

Goal: Bring new calprotectin assay on that can be streamlined with all the other sample types in their fully automated lab and can be run 24/7

Solution: Implementation of  BÜHLMANN fCAL® turbo with CALEX® Cap to be run on their automated, random access analyzer

BÜHLMANN fCAL® turbo (K190784): FDA 510(k) cleared. For in vitro Diagnostic Use.
BÜHLMANN fCAL® turbo + CALEX® Cap (K191718): FDA 510(k) cleared. For in vitro Diagnostic Use.
