Technical Sales Specialist

Technical Sales Specialist will promote and sell technical or scientific products for Buhlmann Diagnostics. They ascertain the needs of the customer, promote the relevant products, and demonstrate clearly how the products work.

Location: North America; preferably New England or near major transportation hub 

Organizational structure:

  • Reports to VP, Business Development; with dotted Line to Key Account Specialist

BUHLMANN Diagnostics Corp:

  • BUHLMANN Diagnostics Corp (BDC) provides both research use only (RUO) and in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) quantitative immunoassays for use in Clinical and Research Laboratories in the United States.


  • Primary focus of position is to provide technical sales and services to our customers at clinical labs throughout the US. Secondary focus of position is to support validation of new medical diagnostic assay installations across the US.
  • The sales role requires the candidate to become a customer expert. BUHLMANN is searching for a gregarious, caring and interested individual, with an acute ability to listen and realize the customers analytic and pre-analytical laboratory needs; and if appropriate, follow up with a product solution.   Candidate must endeavor to achieve and maintain a high level of competency in knowledge and positioning of BUHLMANN products and services.  Further sales roles include:
    • Supporting current customers and development of new customers.
    • Receiving and managing customer inquiries, leads and technical complaints.
    • Preparing and delivering effective product presentation & trainings.
    • Updating customer communication records in CRM database.
    • Striving to a achieve annual sales objectives.
  • The validation role requires the person to become a technical product expert. BUHLMANN seeks a candidate with strong analytical assay proficiency and an innate ability to trouble shoot and problem solve.   Strong communication skills, with empathy for the clinical laboratory environment are essential for the position.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in STEM field required; clinical or laboratory sciences preferred.
  • Medical Technologist (ASCP) Certification of great benefit.
  • Professional experience in the clinical or research laboratory is required; experience with clinical chemistry analyzers and other immunoassays is preferred.
  • Sales experience would be of benefit, but not necessary.
  • Must respect and adhere to the quality system and comply with relevant SOPs.
  • Proficiency in standard Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PP).

  • Innate gregarious individual who is driven but can stop to listen; is independent but also inclusive and a respectful team player and with a hands-on mentality to think outside the box and contribute.
  • Ability to work and communicate well in a small but growing business to customers throughout North America and affiliates throughout the world.
  • Must be a strong listener and efficient communicator over the telephone, VOIP, email and in person. Willingness and ability to work independently as well as support the entire team in the office.


Work & Travel Requirements:

  • Position may require up 50% travel at times, mostly in the US.
  • Organized and self-motivated individual, with ability to work independently with little daily oversight.
